Man and Van Docklands Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Man and Van Docklands has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our operations or supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to prevent exploitation, protect vulnerable people, and uphold human rights in all areas of our business.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man and Van Docklands maintains a clear zero-tolerance stance on all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, human trafficking, and servitude. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We expect the same high standards from our employees, agency workers, contractors, drivers, and all suppliers who provide goods or services to our company.
No form of coercion, abuse, or exploitation is acceptable. Where credible concerns arise, we will act promptly to investigate, take corrective action, and, where necessary, terminate relationships with individuals or organisations that do not meet our standards.
Our Operations and Supply Chains
Man and Van Docklands provides transport and moving services, primarily within the Docklands and surrounding areas. Our supply chains include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, IT and software providers, and labour agencies that may assist with seasonal or short-notice staffing.
We recognise that some parts of the transport and logistics sector, as well as subcontracted labour and international supply chains, can carry an elevated risk of labour exploitation. We therefore take active steps to understand and reduce these risks.
Supplier Standards and Audits
To uphold our zero-tolerance policy, we require our key suppliers and contractors to confirm that they comply with all relevant labour, employment, and human rights legislation. We seek assurances that they do not engage in, or support, any form of modern slavery or human trafficking.
We conduct risk-based due diligence on suppliers, focusing on those providing labour, transport, or goods from higher-risk sectors or locations. This may include pre-engagement checks, written confirmations regarding labour practices, and periodic reviews of their policies and procedures.
Where our initial assessment identifies increased risk, we reserve the right to conduct more detailed audits. These audits may include site visits, document reviews, and discussions with management and workers to confirm that employment conditions are fair and lawful. Failure to meet our standards can result in corrective actions, closer monitoring, or termination of the business relationship.
Employee Awareness and Reporting Channels
All staff, including drivers, office staff, and temporary workers, are made aware of our stance against modern slavery and the importance of reporting any concerns. We emphasise that everyone has a role to play in identifying and reporting exploitation, whether within our business or in our supply chains.
We provide clear internal reporting channels for staff to raise concerns confidentially with line managers or senior management. Concerns may relate to suspicious working arrangements, signs of coercion, withholding of documents, or any behaviour that could indicate modern slavery or human trafficking.
Reports will be treated seriously, investigated promptly, and handled sensitively. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Man and Van Docklands is committed to continually improving its approach to preventing modern slavery. We regularly review our policies, risk assessments, and due diligence processes to respond to evolving risks and legal requirements.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once every year by senior management. As part of that review, we consider feedback from audits, supplier engagements, employee reports, and any incidents or near misses. Where necessary, we update our procedures, enhance training and awareness, and strengthen our supplier requirements.
By maintaining a robust zero-tolerance policy, conducting proportionate supplier audits, providing clear reporting channels, and committing to annual review, Man and Van Docklands aims to contribute to the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking from our industry and communities.
